Two Bit Circus Foundation

Over the summer of 2019 I had a blast working as a Creative Technologist Intern at the Two Bit Circus Foundation. Here are some of the projects I got to work on while I was there:

Justin Case: License to Print

The name is Case, Justin Case. In this super spy experience, you’ll have to use all your gizmos and wits to crack open the puzzling safes of Jacque DeLuxe, criminal mastermind, and recover the Venus DeMilo’s arms before time runs out!

This was my first time working on an escape room experience and it was a total blast. We developed the first prototype room while working at a STEAM summer camps, using the campers as our beta testers. From there all the puzzles were reworked and strengthened so the escape room could make its debut at Two Bit Circus Beta Night. At Beta Night it was the most popular game demoed that evening, with our player slots filling up and eventually needing to make a second waitlist for people to join the waitlist for empty slots.

Goal: Make portable escape room experience that teaches players how to use a 3D printing pen.

Target Age: Middle school, but accessible for all ages.

Team: Justin Andarza (Producer), Jacob Surovsky (Lead Designer + Fabricator), Daryl Choa (Puzzle Designer + Fabricator + Video Producer), Aubrey Isaacman (Puzzle Designer + Fabricator), Sloane Wysocki (Graphic Designer), Hannah Yi (Graphic Designer + Project Manager), and Kate Le (Actor)

Galaxymania: Earthlings to the Rescue!

Hello! A little help here please? My name is Two Bit, I’m an alien AI ship from The Midway Galaxy, and it appears I’ve crash-landed here while on a research mission. Can you help me reboot my system and send data back to the Motherboard of Motherboards (M.O.M)? Or else I’ll be grounded for life!

This project challenged me to push my Unity Development skills to create a robust and entertaining button pushing game. The final game was able to detect 10 unique inputs and walk the player through the experience with narration, subtitles, sound effects, music, and special effects.

Goal: Develop a traveling activation that teaches basic electronics wiring and gets students excited about using Makey Makeys.

Demographic: Middle school students, with the ability to scale up or down.

Team: Justin Andarza (Producer), Daryl Choa (Game Designer + Fabricator + Artist), Aubrey Isaacman (Game Designer + Writer + Fabricator), and Jacob Surovsky (Programmer + Graphic Designer).

Dr. Botcher’s Minute Medical School

A bonus project I got to work on was joining the team developing Dr. Botcher’s Minute Medical School to fabricate and perform the titular puppet character. The media we recorded guides guests through the 20 minute Story Room experience, and I’m really happy and proud to have been a part of it. Let’s get surgerizing!
